The creation of the Strategic Plan of Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje (UKIM) for the period 2024–2029 was initiated by the current Rector, Prof. Dr. Biljana Angelova. The purpose of its development and adoption is multifaceted. The Strategic Plan serves as a document defining the strategic directions, areas, and priorities in the University's scientific and research activities. The creation of the Strategic Plan of Ss. The Strategic Plan serves as a document defining the strategic directions, areas, and priorities in the University's scientific and research activities. The basis for the Strategic Plan lies in the dedication to teaching and research activities, strengthening the country's societal, intellectual, scientific, socio-economic, artistic, and cultural capacity, and enhancing the international position and recognition of the University. Its development was guided by major European development documents in the field of higher education and research: “European Strategy for Strengthening Higher Education Institutions for the Future of Europe” (European Commission, April 2022), “Connecting Higher Education, Research, Innovation, and Society: Paving the Way for a New Dimension in European Higher Education” (European Commission, June 2021), “Pact for Research and Innovation in Europe” (European Commission, November 2021), and “Vision for Universities without Walls by 2030” (European University Association, 2021).

The implementation of the Strategic Plan will enable UKIM to maintain its leadership in higher education in the Republic of North Macedonia and to continuously improve its position at the international level.
