50th International Scientific Conference 

As part of the International Seminar on Macedonian Language, Literature, and Culture, an International Scientific Conference is organized annually. At this event, foreign and domestic Macedonian studies scholars, Slavists, and Balkanists present their research in the fields of language and literature.

Topics for the Linguistic Section of the 50th International Scientific Conference – Ohrid, 2023:



1. Macedonian Language in Relation to Other Languages
Studies may address contemporary and historical aspects of the Macedonian language, including phonetics, phonology, morphology, lexicology, lexicography, word formation, phraseology, syntax, text linguistics, onomastics, dialectology, stylistics, and sociolinguistics.
Comparative studies may examine linguistic phenomena in Macedonian and other languages, both Slavic and non-Slavic.

120 Years of On Macedonian Matters
A theme marking the 120th anniversary of the publication of On Macedonian Matters by Krste Petkov Misirkov.
Subtopics include his perspectives on the Macedonian literary language, presented in the article A Few Words About the Macedonian Literary Language.

This theme explores the poet’s linguistic and stylistic contributions and the translation of his works into other languages.

1. Macedonian Literature and Culture in Relation to Other Literatures and Cultures

Guidelines:

  • Comparative studies of Macedonian literary and cultural phenomena in historical and contemporary contexts.
  • Interdisciplinary approaches, including philosophical, sociological, technological, and biopolitical perspectives.
 
2. Krste Petkov Misirkov: A Pioneer of Macedonian Studies

On the occasion of the 120th anniversary of the publication of the work 'Za makedonskite raboti', we propose a topic concerning the work of the prominent Renaissance figure Krste Petkov Misirkov.
Guidelines:

  • Misirkov’s work in the context of Macedonian historical, literary, and cultural continuity.
  • His intercultural relations and influence on other traditions.
  • His role in a broader socio-political framework.

3. Aco Šopov as a Paradigm in Macedonian Literature
On the occasion of the significant jubilee – the 100th anniversary of the birth of the distinguished Macedonian poet Aco Šopov, we propose a theme concerning the exploration of his work from multiple perspectives.
Guidelines:

  • Šopov’s poetry in historical and contemporary contexts, and its relationship with Slavic, European, and global literary traditions.
  • His work as a translator.
  • His work as an essayist.
  • His work as a critic.
