Stanisław Lem European Research Prize
Edition 2025 – Competition announcement

We cordially invite young scientists in your institution to take part in the 5th edition of the international competition for the Stanisław Lem European Research Prize, organized by the Wrocław University of Science and Technology.

The competition is open to young scientists up to 40 years old (born in 1985 or later), affiliated with a university or research center of a country belonging to the EU or associated under the Horizon Program and from Switzerland.

The Prize is awarded for a recent discovery or significant achievement made in the last 3 years in broadly understood fields of science and engineering, with strong elements of technology, interdisciplinarity, creativity and vision.

The application (together with 2-3 recommendation letters and a maximum of 3 publications) should be submitted electronically by 30 September 2025 to the email address lemprize@pwr.edu.pl.

Applications must be signed and submitted by the candidates. It is recommended to attach a CV.

The winner will be announced on 14 November 2025 during the annual celebrations of the Wrocław University of Science and Technology.

The winner will receive a cash prize of PLN 100,000 (approximately EUR 23,000) and will be invited to Wrocław for the Lem Prize award ceremony which will be held in 2026. The winner will also be expected to give a lecture about her/his discovery or achievements.

The Embassy of Switzerland in Skopje has the honour to inform that the Swiss Government, through the Federal Commission for Scholarships for Foreign Students, is offering 10-15 excellence scholarships for students from Central and Eastern European countries and Caucasus countries for the academic year 2026/2027.

These scholarships provide highly qualified young graduates from all fields with the opportunity to pursue doctoral or postdoctoral research in Switzerland at one of the public funded universities or recognised institutions (Swiss cantonal universities, universities of applied sciences and the two federal institutes of technology, as well as the four research institutes).

Three types of scholarships are available:

• research scholarships;
• PhD scholarships;
• post-doctoral scholarships.

The offer does not include scholarships for Bachelor and Master studies.

General information on the three scholarship types valid for North Macedonia can be obtained on the website of the State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI): https://www.sbfi.admin.ch/en/swiss-government-excellence-scholarships.

Starting from this year, the applications must be submitted though the GO ESKAS (grants online ESKAS) tool. The deadline for submission of the applications for North Macedonia is 10 November 2025.

СТИПЕНДИИ ЗА КАРИЕРЕН РАЗВОЈ И ИСТРАЖУВАЊЕ ВО ГЕРМАНИЈА

Доколку имате завршено магистерски студии во последните 5 години или моментално работите на вашиот докторат, Фондацијата за животна средина на Германија ДБУ, Deutsche Bundesstiftung Umwelt (DBU) нуди одлична можност за истражувачки престој во Германија, во траење од 6-12 месеци и тоа на универзитети, институти, невладини организации или во приватни компании (институцијата домаќин ја избирате сами). Досега 11 студенти од Македонија ја искористиле можноста.

Програмата поддржува најширок опсег на професии, под услов предлог-проектот да биде директно или индиректно поврзан со заштитата на животната средина, екологијата, одржливиот развој, климатските промени, обновливите извори на енергија и сл.

Програмата има рок за аплицирање двапати годишно: 5 март и 5 септември и е отворена за апликации од кандидати од сите дисциплини.
