The 13th edition of RoboMac and the 5th edition of RoboMac Junior have begun.

At the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technologies, the 13th edition of RoboMac and the 5th edition of RoboMac Junior have begun. The Dean of FEIT, Professor Vladimir Atanasovski, said at today's opening of RoboMac that RoboMac 2025 is no longer just a student competition, but a symbol.

„A symbol of youthful enthusiasm, of wholehearted dedication, of a competitive and exploratory spirit, of innovation and of endless curiosity about technology. RoboMac is a symbol that is increasingly gaining recognition not only nationally, but also at a regional level. RoboMac is a place where future engineers and innovators meet, where ideas, passion and knowledge converge. RoboMac is a platform that transcends the classic concept of a competition – RoboMac inspires, motivates and connects. RoboMac is the go-to name for robotics, automation, electronics and artificial intelligence in Macedonia. But RoboMac is so much more than that. It is synonymous with collaboration, solving real-world challenges, creative thinking, and building skills that are key for the future. Through competitions, workshops and lectures, RoboMac creates an environment in which young people learn to collaborate, explore, experiment, and have fun. For some, it is the first step towards an engineering career, and for others – the beginning of a life path filled with a passion for creating, exploring and progress," says Atanasovski.

Gordana Klincharova, State Secretary at the Ministry of Digital Transformation, said that such initiatives are key to the future being built. "RoboMac should be more than just a competition; it should also be a platform that unites young people from the country and abroad, who with their creativity, courage and technological readiness, are changing the world for the better. May these six days be a time for learning, challenges and inspiration. Let RoboMac be a reminder that technology is at its most powerful when it is in the hands of those who want to use it for the common good," said Klincharova.

The Rector of the University "St. Cyril and Methodius" in Skopje, Prof. Dr Biljana Angelova, confirmed that this event is a gathering of talented minds and proof of the growing importance of robotics and artificial intelligence in our society. "The world around us is undergoing a rapid technological transformation. Automation and intelligent systems are fundamentally changing industries, from manufacturing and healthcare to transport and communication. As we look to the future, it is clear that robotics and artificial intelligence will play an increasingly important role in shaping our lives," said Angelova.

For Filip Zhakov, president of the student branch of the Macedonian Section of the IEEE, RoboMac represents a symbol of ambition, knowledge, vision and perseverance. "Today, when we talk about artificial intelligence, automation and digital transformation, we are not just an audience – we are the ones driving the process forward. FEFIT is increasingly recognising the importance of intergenerational partnership and the power of an environment that invests in people," said Zhakov.

This year, RoboMac 2025 is hosting over 60 students, distributed in five competitive disciplines. Participants will develop robotic systems that recognise visual and audio commands, design intelligent agents for dynamic scenarios, combine machine vision with robotics for automated sorting and – for speed enthusiasts – compete in programming autonomous racing vehicles. These activities are not just exercises in coding and hardware – they are laboratories of creativity, collaboration and complex problem-solving. Additionally, throughout the week, students will have the opportunity to hear talks from leading experts, to learn, ask questions, and receive feedback that will be invaluable to their development. In this way, RoboMac fulfils another significant function: to be a bridge between academia and industry, between knowledge and practice.

FEIT, as an institution that nurtures an innovative engineering spirit, stands firmly behind this initiative. As pioneers in the field of electrical engineering and information technology, we are proud that our laboratories, curricula, and lecturers create the conditions for a top-quality education and inspiring practice. Our programmes are constantly updated in step with global trends, and our graduates are sought-after and valued in the industry – both at home and abroad," added Atanasovski.

RoboMac Junior, for the fifth time, opens its doors to the most talented 54 secondary school pupils They are divided into two categories. For them, this is an opportunity not only to showcase their skills but also to familiarise themselves with FEIT and the opportunities the faculty offers.
