  • Abstract: The textbook entitled 'Juvenile Delinquency and Juvenile Justice', prepared to meet the requirements of the syllabus for the subject of Juvenile Criminal Law, which is taught as a compulsory subject in the second cycle of studies in Criminal Law at the 'Justinian I' Faculty of Law in Skopje. This textbook covers the concept and basic characteristics of juvenile delinquency, the most significant theories upon which it is based, the aetiology, i.e. the exogenous and endogenous factors of juvenile delinquency, as well as the phenomenology of juvenile delinquency. The concept of a child, the categories of children at risk and children subject to criminal liability, as well as the characteristics, sources and principles of proceedings concerning a child in accordance with national legislation, together with sanctions for children and their effects, are among the topics intended for study by our students. The study of the principles of restorative justice and mediation, as particularly important concepts for addressing juvenile delinquency by protecting the interests of children, whilst simultaneously nurturing them into healthy individuals who will accept and respect societal norms in the future, are a particularly important part of this textbook, which is therefore useful not only for students but also for the wider readership concerned with the handling of juvenile delinquency.
