  • Abstract: Ferroalloys are a key element in the modern steel and cast iron industry, playing an essential role in the advancement of metallurgy and materials science. The addition of alloying elements to molten iron and steel significantly improves the mechanical, chemical and thermal properties of the finished materials. Through the appropriate combination of elements such as nickel, manganese, chromium, silicon, and molybdenum, special alloys are created that meet the highest industrial standards. The historical development in the production of ferroalloys, from traditional blast furnaces to modern electric arc and electric furnaces, has been characterised by continuous technological progress, increased energy efficiency, and reduced environmental impact. This book presents a systematic and integrated review of the mineralogical, thermodynamic, and technological aspects of ferroalloys, with the aim of fostering critical thinking, innovation, and sustainable development in modern metallurgical practice.
