The University "St. Cyril and Methodius" in Skopje, together with partner institutions from the country, will implement the GREENSTARS project to promote science, research and innovation.

We are particularly pleased to inform the public that our country is becoming part of the map of European research initiatives, with the approval for funding of the GREENSTARS project – "Choose Science! Building up society through research and innovation" (CHOOSE SCIENCE! BUILDING UP SOCIETY THROUGH RESEARCH AND INNOVATION), under the MSCA and Citizens programme and the call for the organisation of the European Researchers' Night & Researchers at Schools.

The aim of this initiative is to bring science, research and researchers closer to citizens, to encourage curiosity among young people and to raise awareness of the importance of scientific discoveries and innovations in everyday life.

It is a great honour that the University "St. Cyril and Methodius" in Skopje (UCM) is the coordinator of this project, in partnership with significant scientific, research and innovation institutions from the country:
– Macedonian Academy of Sciences and Arts
– University 'St. Clement of Ohrid' – Bitola
– Goce Delchev University – Štip
– The National Centre for the Development of Innovation and Entrepreneurial Learning
– Macedonian Ecological Society

As part of the project, two editions of the European Researchers' Night will be held in 2026 and 2027, as well as numerous activities to promote science in primary and secondary schools across the country.

The project will be implemented in Skopje, Bitola and Štip, with a focus on science, technology, innovation, sustainability and inclusivity. More than 200 activities are planned, including interactive presentations, experiments, workshops and meetings with researchers, with the aim of engaging over 30,000 citizens and young people.

The GREENSTARS project will contribute to greater visibility of science, strengthen trust in research and create a strong link between science and society.
