The Faculty of Music Arts at UКИМ with musical events in honour of the victims of the tragedy in Kočani and in tribute to Prof. Sara Projkovska.
On 16 March 2026, students from the Faculty of Music Arts at the University "St. Cyril and Methodius" in Skopje performed in the hall of the "Beli Mugri" Cultural Centre in Kočani, as part of the programme marking the anniversary of the tragedy in Kočani.
In memory of the 63 young people who tragically lost their lives, students from the Department of Vocal and Instrumental Performance at the Faculty of Music Arts – Skopje performed the composition 'Torn Threads', a work by Nikola Gjorgiev from Kočani, a student on the Composition programme at the Faculty of Music Arts – Skopje, in the class of Prof. Dr Darija Andovska.
With this performance, the Faculty of Music Arts – Skopje expressed its deepest condolences to the families of the deceased and its support for Kočani in the healing process. The event was an act of silent tribute to the young lives that were cut short too soon, as well as a reminder of the importance of togetherness, solidarity and humanity in moments of deep sorrow.
Through music, the students sent a message of empathy, hope and support to the citizens of Kočani, wishing that the memory of the deceased would remain permanently preserved.
Meanwhile, today, 16 March 2026, starting at 8 p.m., A concert will be held today, 16 March 2026, at 8 p.m. in the Concert Hall of the Faculty of Music Arts – Skopje, as part of the 'Music Viva' concert series, entitled 'For Sara', in honour of the late Professor Sara Projkovska, who tragically lost her life in the tragedy in Kočani.
The concert will feature students of accompaniment in practice, and the event serves as an expression of respect for the person and work of Professor Sara Projkovska, while allowing the music to speak with dignity of loss, remembrance and the enduring value of her artistic and pedagogical contribution.
