Outstanding performance by the "Dragan Shuplevski" Choir of the Faculty of Music and Arts, University of Macedonia – Skopje, under the baton of Maestro Prof. M-r Sashо Tatarchievski at one of the largest university festivals in Europe.
Universitas Cantat is a festival with a long tradition and a forum for the world's finest university choral ensembles. Our choir has now been invited to participate for the third time, which in itself is an outstanding recognition.
The concerts of the "Dragan Shuplevski" choir, this time in the form of a women's choir,
They were held to great attendance and interest. The first concert took place in the town of Kalish, in the beautiful Cathedral of St Nicholas.
After the concert, the priest who runs the cathedral organised a reception for the choir, at which we had the honour of seeing a large fresco depicting the patrons of our Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje, the holy brothers Cyril and Methodius.
The second concert was held in the impressive concert hall of the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, before a large audience, who did not spare their applause after the performance of each of the compositions. For this concert, Maestro Tatarchievski selected a programme featuring compositions by the Macedonian bards of choral composition: Todor Skalovski, Trajko Prokopiev, Dragan Shuplevski, Kiril Macedonski and Aleksandar Lekovski.
Particularly striking and positive were the enthusiastic reactions of the other festival participants, ensembles from the USA, Germany, Hungary and Poland, who continued their applause and ovations even after our girls had left the stage.
In addition to their solo concerts, our students also took part in the exceptionally well-designed workshops, as well as in the joint preparation and performance of the composition On – Off by composer Zuzana Falkovska, specially created for this event.
Such continuous successful performances by the Dragan Shuplevski Choir are a great affirmation of the Faculty of Music and Arts, UКИМ and the country as a whole, and have led to invitations to participate in other eminent musical events.
These performances and presentations at the Faculty of Music Arts – Skopje are supported by Ministry of Culture, UCM and FMU – Skopje, and are under the patronage of the President of the Republic, H.E. Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova, on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of FMU – Skopje.
