Successful first 'Career Development Day' on the UKI campus

More than 1,000 students attended the first "Career Development Day" on the UКИМ campus, where, over a six-hour programme, they had the opportunity to meet 27 domestic companies, listen to motivational talks and panel discussions that will help them on their professional development journey.

With an interactive, full-day programme and successful connections made between students and companies, the first "Career Development Day", organised by the Career Centre of UGJK and THRIVITY, has concluded.
On 7 June, on the UКИМ campus, the examination session took on a different dimension because the students this time had a different motivation, to be 'at the faculty' to present themselves to companies, to hear and experience new knowledge and experiences from the professionals who were part of the motivational speakers or participants in the panel discussions. All of this is aimed at increasing opportunities for students to easily begin their professional careers, who, encouraged during their studies, will develop the skills and competencies required for the labour market.

During the event, 150 students created professional CVs and had their photos taken for them, and 50 students received direct offers for internships and their first jobs at the stands of the 27 companies that presented their employment opportunities.

The event was opened by the Rector of UCM, Prof. Dr Nikola Jankulovski, who stated that "Encouraging students' interest in planning and directing their careers, focusing on internships, placing greater emphasis on 'active' learning and putting the student at the centre of teaching are the main elements that foster motivation, creativity, self-analysis and the engagement of students in the learning process and in acquiring employability skills, and this is the aim of today's event, which I hope will become a tradition.".

„The task of the UoM Career Centre is to be a bridge between its students on the one hand and the business community on the other, connecting the youth and potential of its students with the experience and challenge offered by companies that are leaders in our country's labour market. We demonstrated this directly at the first Career Development Day. I sincerely hope that our students will feel our commitment as a genuine added value during their studies and for their student portfolio, because students have been, are, and will be the greatest asset of a university, as the future creators and drivers of progress for society as a whole." – said Prof. Dr Jasmina Tončić Ribarska, Head of the Career Centre at UKIM, in her address.

„The direct meetings between students and companies are the greatest benefit of this event, because companies are looking for new talent, and students need to be open and present themselves. I believe the students have grasped the message: not to wait, as no one is going to come knocking at their door to hire them; that they need to be proactive and start developing themselves, gaining experience and building their competencies while still at university." – said Dejan Vanevski from the THRIVITY Career Centre.

Following this event, activities to network students and companies and develop their professional potential will continue.
