On 26 February 2024, the event "Artificial Intelligence in Education and Science" was held at the Rectorate of UKI.

As a socially responsible university, which generates 90.1 per cent of the country's overall scientific and innovative output, UКИМ was the first to initiate this debate on the topic of artificial intelligence in higher education and science, under the leadership of Rector Prof. Dr Biljana Angelova.

In front of more than 130 professors in attendance, questions were answered regarding the use of artificial intelligence in the process of higher education and science. From generating texts and handling everyday administrative tasks, to questions concerning university values and ethical dimensions, and what this new relationship between humans and machines means.

The event was opened by the Rector of UКИМ, Prof. Dr Biljana Angelova, who emphasised that as a University, we must bravely embrace and respond appropriately to the pace of development and the changes taking place in higher education, science and technological development in the world, which is part of our continuous development.

The moderator of the event was the Vice-Rector for Science at UKIМ, Prof. Dr Valentina Gechevska, who pointed out that in a context where artificial intelligence, with its cutting-edge technologies and generative models, offers opportunities for the development of all segments of social life, universities worldwide are faced with a challenge. UКИМ strives to keep pace with the times.

After the presentations by Professors Georgi Madjarov, Eftim Zdravevski, Petre Lameski and Riste Stojanov, those present had the opportunity to ask questions. The common conclusion was that work on this topic would continue in the coming period, with several projects at the level of UKIМ announced.
