The Faculty of Fine Arts in Skopje presents the inter-academic exhibition “Threads / Niški” in Belgrade

On 12th December 2025, starting at 7 p.m., at the Gallery of the Faculty of Fine Arts in Belgrade, the exhibition “Threads / Niški” wаs opened — the latest result of the collaboration between the Faculty of Fine Arts in Skopje and the Faculty of Fine Arts in Belgrade. The exhibition will be open to visitors until Monday, December 29, 2025.

“Threads” is a multimedia exhibition featuring works by thirteen postgraduate students from all study programs of the Faculty of Fine Arts in Skopje. With its opening, the Gallery of the Faculty of Fine Arts in Belgrade is once again activated as a space for contemporary artistic dialogues, reaffirming the importance of institutional exchange, mobility, and the advancement of contemporary artistic-research practices.

Through the “Threads” project, the master’s students of the Faculty of Fine Arts in Skopje transform their individual artistic research into a collective mental weaving, as formulated by dean prof. Janešlieva in the introductory text of the accompanying publication. The title functions as a metaphor—a connecting line that unites different media, thematic spaces, and visual languages, as well as the methodologies and research processes of the two faculties.

The project represents an important platform for developing critical thinking, innovation, and professional competencies among students, encouraging joint interdisciplinary initiatives that affirm contemporary artistic models in higher education. In the long term, such transnational networking among art academies and cultural institutions strengthens the dynamics of the contemporary art scene, nurtures artistic freedom, and supports the spirit of solidarity and mutual exchange.

“Threads are the emotional resonances of the young. Is there anything more important?” — states the conceptual framework of the exhibition, highlighting the sensitive, contemporary, and engaged perspective of the new generation of Macedonian visual artists.

The exhibiting artists are: Dorotej Nešovski, Angela Saveska, Kristina Tanevska, Marija Trpeska, Dorina Teneva, Martina Spasovska, Andrej Antevski, Ana Lazarevska, Elena Dimova Pantelić, Stefan Jakimovski, Mihail Paskoski, Berkant Hasanichaj, and Elena Dimoska.
