Exhibition of a graphic map and its permanent installation, "Wall of the Creative Alphabet"„
The "CREATIVE ALPHABET" project, financed by funds for informational, cultural, sports, Student Services and other activities of the University 'St. Cyril and Methodius' in Skopje and implemented in 2025, has a multidisciplinary character and encompasses the fields of visual arts and pedagogy. The project's particular feature is its multidisciplinary networking and implementation in collaboration between the Faculty of Fine Arts and the Institute of Pedagogy at the Faculty of Philosophy in Skopje. To this end, the project's implementation involved professors from the relevant fields, an expert from pedagogical/teaching practice, and students from the Faculty of Fine Arts.
In accordance with developmental characteristics, early years pupils learn best in a holistic way, through pictures and colourful illustrations presented in a creative manner. This learning concept enables an integrated approach to achieving the objectives of the subjects Macedonian Language and Visual Arts, for acquiring knowledge and developing skills. Building on the concept of learning as a 'whole', a multidisciplinary project was launched, which is the first of its kind in our country.
The project idea is by university professors, who mentored the entire practical realisation of the project, involving students from the Faculty of Fine Arts and creating an original graphic design for a creative map featuring 31 works of art. Each creatively illustrated letter of the Macedonian alphabet is represented by a separate artwork. The artworks representing the 31 letters constitute the graphic map 'Creative Alphabet'.
As a result of the "Creative Alphabet" project, an exhibition of the graphic map and its permanent installation, entitled "Wall of the Creative Alphabet", is being organised, which will be exhibited in the premises of the Rectorate of the University "St. Cyril and Methodius" in Skopje. Additionally, two more permanent installations are in preparation, which are planned to be exhibited in the premises of the Faculty of Fine Arts and the Faculty of Philosophy in Skopje.
This creative, artistic and original way of presenting the letters of the Macedonian alphabet develops the students' pedagogical, methodological and artistic competencies for creating contemporary methodological and didactic tools and materials for effective use in teaching, as well as in students' free time. Through the 'Creative Alphabet' project, students are encouraged to create imaginative works, the ultimate aim of which is to stimulate pupils' curiosity for linguistic and artistic 'literacy', whilst simultaneously fostering a love and interest in the study of the Macedonian language and art.
Additionally, through a holistic approach between the units, the project promotes best practices for developing contemporary pedagogical competencies for future art education teachers and educators, as well as modernising students' practical work.
The project "Creative Alphabet" is led by Dr Fehim Huskovic, Professor at the Faculty of Fine Arts, and Dr Elizabeta Tomevska-Ilievska., Professor at the Faculty of Philosophy, University "St. Cyril and Methodius" in Skopje. As a professional associate, Ms Maja Janevska, a department teacher, was engaged.
