Open Science Centre (OSC)

The Open Science Centre at the Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje is an institutional unit dedicated to advancing and implementing the principles of open science: transparency, collaboration, accessibility, and reproducibility in scientific research and artistic work.

Mission

The Open Science Centre aims to lead the cultural transformation towards open science at UKIM and beyond by:

  • Supporting the development of open science competencies
  • Providing services and resources across the entire research lifecycle
  • Promoting collaboration and interoperability of research outputs
  • Enhancing the transparency and impact of research

Vision

The Open Science Centre strives to become the leading institutional hub at UKIM for the implementation of open science, contributing to:

  • Increased visibility of research outputs
  • Cultural change within the research community

What does the Open Science Centre offer?

Training and Education

The Centre organises workshops, seminars, and training sessions for students, researchers, and academic staff aimed at developing skills related to open science, FAIR data practices, research data management, access to open scholarly resources, and related topics.

Resources

We provide free educational materials and tools covering different phases of the research process, supporting the practical adoption of open science practices.

Open Science Laboratory

The Centre offers computing and storage infrastructure for researchers and students, enabling work on open research projects and hands-on use of open science tools and platforms.

Policy and Support

The Open Science Centre provides expert guidance on the development and implementation of open science policies, research data management, and alignment with European and international standards.

Organisational Structure of the Open Science Centre

Head of the Centre

Prof. Dr Sonja Filiposka is the Head of the Open Science Centre at Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje. She leads the Centre’s activities and coordinates the development of services, training programmes, and support mechanisms for promoting open science principles across the university community.

Governing Board of the Open Science Centre

The Centre is supported by a broad governing team composed of representatives from key scientific and academic domains at UKIM. A Governing Board has been established, comprising the following members:

This multidisciplinary team represents a wide range of expertise across the university and supports the implementation of open science practices at UKIM.
