Stanisław Lem European Research Prize
The competition is open to young scientists up to 40 years of age (born in 1985 or later), affiliated with a university or research centre in a country belonging to the EU or associated under the Horizon Programme, and from Switzerland. The Prize is awarded for a recent discovery or significant achievement made in the last three years in broadly understood fields of science and engineering, with strong elements of technology, interdisciplinarity, creativity and vision. The application (together with 2-3 letters of recommendation and a maximum of 3 publications) should be submitted electronically by 30 September 2025 to the email address lemprize@pwr.edu.pl. Applications must be signed and submitted by the candidates. It is recommended to attach a CV. The winner will be announced on 14 November 2025 during the annual celebrations of the Wrocław University of Science and Technology. The winner will receive a cash prize of PLN 100,000 (approximately EUR 23,000) and will be invited to Wrocław for the Lem Prize award ceremony, which will be held in 2026. The winner will also be expected to give a lecture about their discovery or achievements. Detailed information on the competition can be found at https://lemprize.pwr.edu.pl/.

The Embassy of Switzerland in Skopje has the honour to inform that the Swiss Government, through the Federal Commission for Scholarships for Foreign Students, is offering 10-15 excellence scholarships for students from Central and Eastern European countries and Caucasus countries for the academic year 2026/2027. These scholarships provide highly qualified young graduates from all fields with the opportunity to pursue doctoral or postdoctoral research in Switzerland at one of the publicly funded universities or recognised institutions (Swiss cantonal universities, universities of applied sciences and the two federal institutes of technology, as well as the four research institutes). Three types of scholarships are available:
The offer does not include Scholarships for Bachelor's and Master's studies. General information on the three scholarship types valid for North Macedonia can be obtained on the website of the State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI): https://www.sbfi.admin.ch/en/swiss-government-excellence-scholarships. Starting this year, applications must be submitted via the GO ESKAS (grants online ESKAS) tool. Scholarships for Career Development and Research in Germany If you have completed a master's degree in the last 5 years or are currently working on your doctorate, the German Environmental Foundation DBU, German Federal Environmental Foundation (DBU) Offers an excellent opportunity for a research stay in Germany, lasting 6-12 months, at universities, institutes, non-governmental organisations or private companies (you choose the host institution yourself). To date, 11 students from Macedonia have taken advantage of this opportunity. The programme supports the widest range of professions, provided the proposed project is directly or indirectly related to environmental protection, ecology, sustainable development, climate change, renewable energy sources, etc. For more information about the programme, please read: https://www.dbu.de/en/promotion/moe-fellowship/ The programme has application deadlines twice a year: 5 March and 5 September, and is open to applications from candidates in all disciplines.
