• Abstract: "The textbook 'Speech Styles and Rhetoric – Part One' is a textbook for first-year students of the Faculty of Dramatic Arts. Through it, they will become acquainted with the metalinguistic functions of language, via the message, the code and the communication tunnel. They will characterise the style of speech and pronunciation through the speech style, using neutral linguistic means, with objectivity and emotional expressive elements.
  Speech styles will be studied on the basis of the psycholinguistics of the message, the speech process, the speech event and the interaction of thought. Through speech styles, the student masters the message and provides a new text, a new linguistic unit, based on the referential, emotive and factual functions of language.
  The textbook also examines rhetoric as a scientific discipline, in which the experience of speech is explained in relation to other disciplines such as logic, psychology, ethics and communication studies.
