FINKI opens the artificial intelligence centre – VEZILKA!
The University 'St. Cyril and Methodius' in Skopje proudly announces that the Faculty of Informatics and Computer Engineering (FINKI) is the recipient of the project "VEZILKA: National AI Factory Antenna of North Macedonia", selected for funding under the EuroHPC initiative and the Horizon Europe programme.
The project, valued at around 6 million euros, will be financed by the European Union and co-financed by the Ministry of Digital Transformation, the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia and FINKI.
With "Wezilka", North Macedonia becomes part of the European network of artificial intelligence centres – a significant step towards strengthening national digital capacities and integration into the European research and innovation infrastructure.
The project aims to create a national ecosystem for responsible and trustworthy artificial intelligence, focused on application in five key sectors:
– healthcare
– energy
– public administration
– language and culture
– agriculture
„"Wezilka" will provide access to European supercomputers, will foster the development of human capital through training, and will provide support for companies, researchers and institutions in using advanced AI solutions.
This project represents a fundamental step in the country's digital and economic transformation, with the aim of positioning North Macedonia as a centre for the responsible and sustainable application of artificial intelligence.
