Summer School "Contemplating the Contemporary Sound Landscape: Experimental Practices in a Visual Context"„

On 21 June 2024 in Lazрополе, organised by the Faculty of Fine Arts (FLA) at UGM and under the direction of Prof. Goco Nanevski, the second session of the Summer School began. "Contemplating the Contemporary Sound Landscape: Experimental Practices in a Visual Context".

The primary aim of the School is to explore alternative artistic practices and a discursive, interdisciplinary context, distinct from traditional studio-based artistic practices and protocols. This, the second session of the summer school, addresses sound as a platform for the creative conception and interpretation of an interdisciplinary artistic work. Participants will learn about sound and sonic phenomena as elements they can use to create sonic images and ambient soundscapes as self-contained artworks, as well as complex artistic installations.

Holding the Summer School in a rural mountain environment is in line with the session's needs, which, to begin with, should involve a renewed acquaintance with nature and silence. Specifically, living and working in the modern, dynamic urban environment shapes people's references to quiet and silence, concepts that participants will redefine through artistic expression created in nature.

The lecturers are Dorian Jovanović, Robert Jankulovski, Goce Nanevski and Dorotej Nešovski.
