Workshop OPEN SCIENCE

Ukim is a member of CoARA The Coalition is a member of two working groups: the Working Group on Open Infrastructures for Responsible Research and Assessment and the Working Group on Reforming the Evaluation of Academic Careers.

 It is precisely for this reason that, in recent times, UКИМ has launched activities through which the process of responding to the need for alignment with the European standards and principles forming part of the European Higher Education and Research Area has begun.

In this context, on 18 March 2024, a workshop entitled OPEN SCIENCE: Benefits and Challenges was held at the Rectorate.

The event was opened by Professor Dr Biljana Angelova, Rector, and moderated by Professor Dr Valentina Gechevska, Pro-Rector for Science.

 At the event, the establishment of a Collaborative Centre for Open Science in collaboration with FINKI was announced.

 „The Collaboration Centre will guide, coordinate and assist the units of UGJK to apply the principles of open science in their research work. Additionally, The Collaborative Centre will enable the mapping of the research infrastructure owned by UGJK, with a view to networking for application and use at local, regional, and broader levels. In this way, conditions will be created for the advanced technology from UGJK's laboratories, such as the new HPC at FINKI, to be applied.     (HPC – High Performance Computer), to become available for wider use by more potential users in the business community and in society" – emphasised Prof. Dr Biljana Angellova, Rector.
