At the premises of UGJK, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the University and the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of North Macedonia.

On 26 January 2024, the University 'St. Cyril and Methodius' in Skopje, represented by the Rector, Prof. Dr Biljana Angelova, and the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of North Macedonia, represented by the Minister, Slavjanka Petrovska, signed a Memorandum of Cooperation at the premises of the University 'St. Cyril and Methodius' in Skopje.

The aim of this collaboration is to open up new opportunities for the development of highly skilled personnel, as well as to utilise the scientific, professional, material and technical, and other resources of mutual interest to the Ministry and the University, with a view to:

  • delivery of practical training for students;
  • developing employment prospects through continuous cooperation between the Ministry and the University, with annual recommendations for the employment of 5 to 10 of the top graduates of the Faculty of Philosophy in Skopje – Institute for Security, defence and peace, as well as the best-graduated students from other units within the University, depending on the Ministry's staffing needs;
  • Sponsorship of undergraduate students for defence purposes by the Ministry, and promotion of the military profession to the University's students by the Ministry;
  • Participation of university professors in the international editorial boards of journals of significance to defence;
  • Implementation of training activities for the employees of the Ministry;
  • cooperation in defining study programmes, as well as organising educational events, seminars, conferences and workshops;
  • Exchange of ongoing and new experiences significant to areas of their activity and exchange of relevant information of mutual interest for scientific purposes.

Among other things, by establishing this cooperation, the signatory parties will coordinate their future activities and align their positions for joint action at home and abroad, wherever they have a common interest.
