Ceremonial opening of the international scientific conference marking 50 years of sociology studies at the University 'St. Cyril and Methodius' in Skopje

Today we officially opened the international scientific conference marking 50 years of sociology studies at UCM. The atmosphere was filled with pride and excitement – for the tradition we cherish and the future towards which we are moving.

The opening ceremony was enriched by the welcoming words of the Rector of UCM, Prof. Dr Biljana Angelova, the Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy, Prof. Dr Oliver Bakreski, the Head of the Institute of Sociology, Prof. Dr Ilo Trajkovski and the Minister for Digital Transformation, Stefan Andonovski. Their addresses reminded us of the importance of sociology as a science and its role in contemporary society.

Then, we followed with great interest the keynote lecture by Prof. Frank Welz of the University of Innsbruck, which raised many questions about how we understand the concept of "normality" in the dynamic 21st century. The day continued with a panel discussion, "Society in Flux: Contemporary Readings of Normality," where scholars from home and abroad exchanged ideas and perspectives.

Today we felt the power of science connecting generations, and tomorrow we continue with new sessions and inspiring conversations.
