The annual UКИМ Award for the Best Scientists and Artist for Outstanding Achievements in 2024 has been presented.
Today, 10 November, the University 'St. Cyril and Methodius' in Skopje joins the global community in marking the World Science Day for Peace and Development, proclaimed by UNESCO. This year's theme, 'Trust, Transformation and the Future: The Science We Need for 2050', calls for reflection on how science is created today, and how trust in it is built for future generations.
Because science has always been a driver of human progress, and today, more than ever, we need a science that builds trust – trust between researchers and society, between universities and industry, between knowledge and ethics. It is in trust that the opportunity for true transformation is born – one that changes systems, the economy, education, and the way we look to the future. We need a science that creates new technologies, but also new values; a science that cares for people, society, and the planet; a science that is open, sustainable, and humane.
Today, on World Science Day, we proudly honour the best scientists and artist of the University 'St. Cyril and Methodius' in Skopje, whose results for 2024 represent precisely that vision – science that builds trust and paves the way to the future. The Rector of UGM, Prof. Dr Biljana Angelova, presented the University's annual Award for outstanding achievements in scientific research and artistic activity during the past calendar year.
