- Abstract: The material covered in the book Thermal Power Plants fully covers the content stipulated by the curricula for the 'Thermal Power Plants' discipline, as adopted by the Academic Council of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering – Skopje, of the University "St. Cyril and Methodius" in Skopje.
The material in the book has been developed as a result of several years of teaching, lectures and laboratory exercises in the subject "Thermal Power Plants", and is presented in ten chapters:
1. Thermal power plants – general overview
2. Steam turbine thermal power plants
3. Gas turbine thermal power plants
4. Combined cogeneration thermal power plants
5. Installations that are an integral part of a steam turbine thermal power plant
6. Plants that are an integral part of gas-turbine and combined heat and power plants
7. Fuel supply to thermal power plants
8. Location of thermal power plants
9. Thermal power plants and ecology
10. Operation and maintenance of the TEP
The book's content covers all modern thermal power plants for the generation of electrical and thermal energy, starting with steam turbine, gas turbine, and combined (steam-gas turbine) plants, and plants with internal combustion engines are not omitted. The book also covers the components integral to steam turbine and gas turbine plants, such as steam and gas turbines, condensers, degasifiers, cooling systems, combustion chambers, recuperators, etc. Separate chapters cover the fuel supply for thermal power plants, plant and site selection, environmental considerations, and operational and maintenance procedures.
The book 'Thermal Power Plants' is intended for undergraduate students at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Skopje, on the courses Thermal and Power Engineering and Energy and Ecology, for whom this area of engineering is a specialisation. but it can also serve as a basis for postgraduate students in the same fields, as well as for practising engineers in the field of thermal energy engineering - Download: Download PDF
