Celebration of the World Science Day for Peace and Development at UKI

The University 'St. Cyril and Methodius' in Skopje marked the World Science Day for Peace and Development – 10 November, which, after two pandemic years, was held in person in the Rectorate's hall.
Traditionally, the University marks World Science Day by honouring its top scientists and an artist for the achievements realised in the past calendar year. This year, the event was enriched by the presentation of a plaque for a special contribution to the development of the University's scientific research activities and for exceptional achievements throughout a career.
AWARDS for the BEST SCIENTISTS AND ARTIST of 2021 have been presented:
- Dr Renata Kušterevska has been selected for outstanding results in the scientific field of Natural and Mathematical Sciences for 2021., Associate Professor at the Faculty of Science and Mathematics.
- Dr Petre Lameski has been selected for outstanding results in the scientific field of technical and technological sciences for 2021., Associate Professor at the Faculty of Informatics and Computer Engineering.
- Dr Igor Spiroski has been selected for outstanding results in the scientific field of medical sciences for 2021., Associate Professor at the Faculty of Medicine.
- Dr Violeta Cvetkovska has been selected for outstanding results in the field of Social Sciences for 2021., Associate Professor at the Faculty of Economics.
- Dr Lidija Tanturovska has been selected for outstanding results in the scientific field of the humanities for 2021., scientific adviser at the Institute of Macedonian Language "Krste Misirkov",
- Ms Darija Andovska has been chosen as the Best Artist for 2021., a professor at the Faculty of Music.
Awarded Placards for a Special Contribution to the Development of Scientific Research Activities and the Internationalisation and Affirmation of the University "St. Cyril and Methodius" in Skopje, and that:
- To Professor Dr Trajche Staffilov, Professor Emeritus of the Faculty of Science and Mathematics, in recognition of a special contribution, in two categories:
- for outstanding career achievement and having published more than 100 scientific papers affiliated with the University, indexed in the Web of Science database (199 as of 2021),
- for exceptional career achievement and internationally recognised excellence, as evidenced by inclusion in Stanford University's list of the 21st Century's most cited scientists of all time, as of 2021.
- To Professor Dr Marjan Gušev, a full professor at the Faculty of Informatics and Computer Engineering, in recognition of a special contribution, in two categories:
- for outstanding career achievement and having published more than 100 scientific papers affiliated with the University, indexed in the Web of Science database (158 as of 2021)
- for the highest number of scientific publications on Web of Science in the past decade, 2011–2020.
- To Professor Dr Liljana Gavrilovska, a professor emeritus of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology, in recognition of a special contribution in two categories:
- for outstanding career achievement and having published more than 100 scientific papers affiliated with the University, indexed in the Web of Science database (116 as of 2021),
- for leading the largest number of international projects during the period of the integrated university, 2009–2021.
- To Academician Prof. Dr Ljubco Koçarov, Professor Emeritus of the Faculty of Informatics and Computer Engineering, in recognition of a special contribution, in two categories:
- for outstanding career achievement and having published more than 100 scientific papers affiliated with the University, indexed in the Web of Science database (106 as of 2021),
- An exceptional career achievement and internationally recognised excellence, as evidenced by being listed by Stanford University among the world's top 2.1% most cited scientists of all time, as of 2021.
- To Professor Dr Goche Spasovski, a full professor at the Faculty of Medicine is awarded in recognition of a special contribution, in the category:
- for outstanding career achievement and for publishing more than 100 scientific papers affiliated with the University, indexed in the Web of Science database (114 as of 2021).
- To Professor Dr Ivan Grozdanov, Professor Emeritus of the Faculty of Science and Mathematics, in recognition of a special contribution, in the category:
- for exceptional career achievement and internationally recognised excellence, as evidenced by inclusion in Stanford University's list of the 21st Century's most cited scientists of all time, as of 2021.
- To Academician Prof. Dr. Leonid Grchev, Professor Emeritus of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology in recognition of a special contribution, in the category:
- for exceptional career achievement and internationally recognised excellence, as evidenced by inclusion in Stanford University's list of the 21st century's most cited scientists worldwide for their entire careers, as of 2021.
