Prof. Dr Patrice Pavis awarded the title of Doctor Honoris Causa by UGJK
On 21 October, a ceremony was held at the University Rectorate to confer the honorary doctorate (doctor honoris causa) on Professor Patrice Pavis, a renowned retired professor of theatre studies, The Republic of France, in recognition of the University's affirmation in the international arena, and its overall achievements in teaching and research in the field of the performing arts.
The award, on behalf of UGJK, was presented by Rector Prof. Dr Biljana Angelova for his outstanding pedagogical and teaching achievements – a retired theatre scholar and professor of theatre studies from the University of Paris 3. – La Sorbonne Nouvelle, Paris 8 University – Vincennes Saint-Denis of the Republic of France and the University of Kent, England.
Prof. Dr Patrice Pavis is one of the most influential contemporary thinkers in the field of theatre and performance studies, the author of renowned works, academic publications, books, monographs and plays in the field of contemporary theatre studies, whose works have been translated into several languages and are considered essential reading in theatre studies.
With this distinction, we express our gratitude and respect for his exceptional contribution to the field of theatre studies, as well as for his essential role in the advancement of higher education in theatre studies and the performing arts.
