FabLab SKOPJE opened at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering.
| A place where your ideas take shape! | |
![]() On 1 December 2022, the Laboratory for Digital Fabrication and Production – FabLab SKOPJE was opened at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, University "St. Cyril and Methodius" in Skopje, where young people will have the opportunity to learn, collaborate and produce their ideas. FabLab SKOPJE has been established by the Centre for Research, Development and Continuing Education (CIRCO), which was founded by the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering – Skopje (FME), with financial support from the Fund for Innovation and Technological Development (FITR) as part of the call "Challenge for the establishment of FAB LABS production laboratories – Young People Create".
The laboratory offers access to modern technology to realise its ideas in prototypes and final products. The aim of FabLab SKOPJE is to become a place where young people will acquire theoretical knowledge and practical skills to turn their ideas into new products, enabling them to access the necessary technology. FabLab SKOPJE will offer professional training courses and workshops at both basic and advanced levels, delivered by lecturers with many years of experience in the relevant field. Expert workshops aimed at training participants in the principles of manufacturing technologies and hands-on machine operation will be offered for 3D printing, laser cutting, and working with CNC milling machines and lathes. During which participants will learn the entire processing workflow, from computer-aided design of the model right through to the practical creation of the product. Training is offered in working with mechatronic systems and programming Arduino development boards, in working with engineering materials and joining, and in machine learning with applications in manufacturing technologies and robotics, as well as courses in 3D CAD modelling, CAE modelling, and CAM programming for CNC machines. FabLab Skopje provides physical accessibility for people with mobility impairments as well as for those with hearing impairments. Special activities are also planned to promote STEM and manufacturing technologies among women and young people from primary and secondary schools. FabLab Skopje is open every day for visits and collaboration.
