Workshop held on the topic: Joint degree study programmes

On 19 November 2024, a workshop on the topic of joint study programmes (joint/double degree study programmes) was held, at which the importance and benefits of creating joint study programmes with partner universities as part of UКИМ's internationalisation process were discussed.
The event was opened by the Rector, Prof. Dr Biljana Angelova, who spoke about the importance of creating joint study programmes – joint/double degrees – for the internationalisation and affirmation of UGJK. Joint study programmes promote academic exchange, enhance educational experiences and encourage international cooperation between students and institutions. They open up opportunities for students to acquire a unique combination of knowledge and skills that sets them apart from others and improves their career prospects in the job market.
The event was attended by representatives from the faculties, institutes and the Agency for Quality in Higher Education, in order to familiarise themselves with the progress and activities of these processes. Positive experiences from faculties and institutes that already have joint study programmes with universities in Europe and the region were also shared, as were the challenges they face in their accreditation.
Models and experiences of how to create and implement joint study programmes were presented at the workshop by:
– Prof. Dr Aneta Cekic, ISPPI; Joint Postgraduate Degree Programme – joint degree: Integration and Governance (Posig) and JoPScip (Erasmus+ CBHE project), in collaboration with 8 other European universities
– Prof. Dr Maria Kalender, FEIT; Joint postgraduate study programme – double degree: Dedicated Embedded Computer Systems and Internet of Things, in collaboration with Anhalt University of Applied Sciences, Germany.
