Prof. Dr Dragan Dautovski, Faculty of Music Arts, best scholar in the humanities
Prof. Dr Dragan Dautovski from the Faculty of Music Arts is the laureate of the UGJK Award for the best scientist in the field of humanities for 2024. He is a composer, performer and researcher dedicated to Macedonian traditional music and its contemporary interpretation.
His work is focused on ethnomusicology and traditional musical practices – the study of the roots of Macedonian musical expression, instruments and vocal techniques, as well as their integration into contemporary compositions and multimedia projects. In doing so, he creates a strong bridge between scholarship, education and the concert stage.
In 2024, Prof. Dautovski demonstrates high productivity through his authored publications, concert performances, research-artistic works, and projects that connect tradition and contemporary times. His contribution is recognised both at home and internationally, where the Macedonian musical tradition takes on new, contemporary forms.
